Telangana bid to ensure no forest fires

Forest fires occur usually from January to May and are mostly caused due to human error.

Hyderabad: The forest department of Telangana is set to take preventative measures to ensure that no forest fire occurs in 2018. Forest fires occur usually from January to May and are mostly caused due to human error. Officials have been ordered by the Secretariat to analyse the causes of previous fires and to make plans for prevention by January. 

“Forest fires are serious. They can wipe out many good speicies of trees and therefore everyone should try not to be careless while visting green areas,” said a forest official. He also said that the fire department must be alerted immediately, if a forest fire is seen. 

Chief forest officer, P. K. Venkataraman said, “The survival rate of plants should be predicted and reports should be sent in every 15 days. Plants should be taken care of to ensure good survival.” senior officials have called for reports from DFO’s on wildlife crimes. The number of pending cases have been ordered to be cleared by January in time for the tiger census in Telangana.
