Our furry pooches are the apple of our eyes and joy of our lives. Keeping them happy and healthy is a top priority for every pet owner. But keeping them fit and healthy can be a daunting task when you live in an apartment building with little or no place at all to walk your dogs. Parks now are your only option. But not all park in the city are pet friendly. But this will soon change as the BBMP may soon make the Domlur Park officially a Dog Park. This park that was created by the residents of the area, that is opened 24/7 will be ideally for pet owners to bring their dogs for a run. Talking to pet owners from the city, we find what they think.

Lopa Saikia and her furry little pet Choko are excited to have a place for her pet to roam free. Ask her how she feels about her pet having a place all to himself, she says, “It’s a fantastic idea coming by the BBMP. It’s great that our furry friends now have a place of their own in the heart of the city.  Hygiene and safety are two most important factors to be considered. Apart from being well guarded, I think there should be dog rules, unfriendly pets should be on leash to reduce chances of dog fights. Coming to hygiene,  the dog owners should be responsible for cleaning up after their dogs. De-ticking of the park will be of great help if done regularly. This place will be great for our pets to socialise and learn from each other.”

Joanna Deepika a city-based  entrepreneur can’t wait to take her furry babies to this park. She add, “I can’t think of anything better than this. This park will surely be heaven on earth for my babies. I feel some kind of play material can be kept at the dog park for our doggies. So that they can play with one another and also indulge in some good bonding. Caesar, my dogie is sure to go wild and crazy in the company of other dogs at this park.”

This city-based professional feels that there should be more parks like this for pets. Pratheeksha B, adds, “We already have a lot of parks for humans but a lot of places are not pet friendly. This is a great initiative in many ways. Not only pets, even the pet parents can meet and discuss stuff about their pets. Since it’s a pet park a lot of pet friendly people would be around so pets can move around without any restrictions. I feel a great addition to the park will be to have pool that the doggies can go crazy over.”

BBMP special commissioner Randeep D says, “I have seen the dog park myself, informally it is already a dog park but formally it has not been done. The local corporator too has been very supportive. The park can used to walk dogs and also abandoned dogs can be given temporary shelter with a caretaker and later on given for adoption. The park itself has been done up well with toys that the dogs can play with. If the park is made official, funds to improve the same can also be collected.”
