Kurnool: Locals tense as tiger strays into their village

Kurnool: A tiger with two cubs strayed into an agriculture field near Jamminagar Tanda in Velgode mandal of Kurnool district. Villagers had tense moments as they had to spend the night in fear when the prospect of tiger threat looms large. A wood cutter who sighted the wild cats had informed forest officials.
When contacted, Atmakur DFO Selvam said they are expecting a rescue team from Tirupati to catch tigers. As it is dark now, they would carry the operation tomorrow (Thursday). He said that there is every likelihood that the wild cat may go back to the comfort of forest than stray around agricultural fields.
He said his team was on high alert and all the necessary precautionary measures had already been taken. In another incident, Bairluti villagers of Kothapalli mandal complained of Tigger movement near their village to forest officials. The pugmarks were also sighted, said P Satya a villager of Kothapalli. But forest officials said they are on high alert and and no need to panic.
