It’s time to adopt a pet. An initiative to promote the adoption of more Indian mongrels will be launched this Sunday. The difference is this time it will not only be puppies but also kittens can become part of your family if you fancy adopting one. A time to play with the puppies and kittens has also been arranged.

Along with the Blue Cross of India, an NGO which works with millions of strays, Forum Vijaya Mall is to host the drive for pet adoption and provide inspiration to people to come forward and give strays and homeless animals the ultimate home life with loving care.

While talking on the initiative that is being taken for the fourth time, Forum’s General Manager Umesh Iyer says, “We aim at finding a permanent home for abandoned puppies and kittens. This is to encourage adoption of Indian breeds of puppies also known as mongrels that adapt to our conditions faster and are very sharp. We have always tied up with Blue Cross of India as we feel they are an NGO that has made consistent efforts to find a home for pets and are a name to be reckoned with for animal welfare.”

Due to severe financial and infrastructural constraints, as it’s quite a hard for an individual or even organisation to provide a shelter for all. “If each one of us were to adopt one stray or homeless animal, the number of those without shelter would become negligible,” according to the ‘Adoptathon’ team. Teaching you how to take care of puppies also forms a part of the programme. To ensure theire well being in terms of diet, grooming and vaccination to be provided, a ‘puppy manual’ will be given to those willing to adopt.

“We have millions of guests walking in every month and we believe we will have adopters who will not only provide a home to the pet but also find a moment of delight as they find their new family member. The success of past adoption drives at Forum Chennai has encouraged us to repeat this campaign for the fourth time,” Umesh adds.
