Visakhapatnam: The iconic British era Mudasarlova Park that lies in shambles un-attended and un-cared for is set to be transformed into a world-class garden with new facilities. Vuda had issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) to appoint a consultant to prepare a master plan for upgrading the park with world-class amenities.

The park is attached to a reservoir that is a major source of water supply to the city. It has for long been neglected after a 6-lane road for BRTS has been laid.

The RFP “Selection of architectural landscape consulting agency for ‘preparation of master plan and upgrading Mudasarlova Park as the international tourist destination in Visakhapatnam,’ has been issued recently.

Mudasarlova Water Works and Park, constructed during the British rule, is one of the oldest parks in the region. Popularly known as Mudasarlova Water Reservoir, it is one of the main water sources for the city. Surrounded by lush greenery and hills, the reservoir has fountains, cages housing attractive birds including peacocks, water tanks and a beautiful garden. Apart from being a picnic spot, the park has a golf course in its premises.

“Vuda plans to develop a ‘theme based Park at Mudasarlova Water Works and Park. For this purpose, the Authority is venturing into a new realm of a development model taking care of the design, development, revenue generation for operation and maintenance in a manner that is socially, economically and environmentally sustainable,” the RFP states. Vuda intends to provide major tourist attractions at the Park.

The development will encompass the existing natural resources and landscape and come up with a design of high quality with an innovative approach based on self-sustainable solutions. Vuda invited proposal from those who has expertise in the field of master planning and Architectural landscaped projects.
