London: Age has varying effects on sex life in women, ranging from making them more adventurous in bed by midlife to a loss of libido as they grow older. A lot of research has gone into coming up with a solution to diminishing desire for sex, and it seems that the answer is very simple.

Doctors are increasingly suggesting that giving women testosterone on prescription can actually revive their sex lives by boosting sex drive. One even suggested that the hormone makes women go from feeling drained to running marathons again.

The loss of libido is called hypoactive sexual desire disorder, and can be caused by mental health issues or hormonal factors. Meanwhile doctors also said that testosterone can help but isn’t the female Viagra.

While women require a lower dosage of the hormone as compared to men for improving mood and energy, doctors complained about the absence of licensed testosterone products for women.

The available testosterone medications are designed for men and need to be modified for women who need to be given testosterone in lower doses.
