Can human touch sexual or non-sexual, be your secret to happiness?
Cuddling has a very strong effect on the mental and psychological well-being of a person.
So often when we are upset and feeling not so good about something, we involuntarily start craving for cuddles or hugs. This hug and cuddling can either be from someone whom we are close to or feel secure to lay bare the dark side of our persona. On a deeper level, the sense of comfort that engulfs us when we are in the arms of our loved ones can be more liberating than what an orgasm can make us feel.
Human touch, be it sexual or non-sexual can be considered to be a powerful tool to happiness. Whirlpool of emotions starts kicking in, making you feel comfortable and relaxed. More than often, there is an intense rush inside you where you don’t crave sex as much as you crave cuddling.
The hormone oxytocin is also known as the cuddling hormone and it is trigged during pleasure by the pituitary gland inside our brain. Oxytocin does not necessarily have to be released during sex but anything that makes you happy and intense joy. This is a powerful happy hormone as it helps an individual to bond with someone. This is the hormone that triggers a sense of belonging.
Now there is something very interesting, women want to cuddle after sex and men prefer not to. The rush of oxytocin kicks in the feeling of togetherness and closeness. Some consider it to be more powerful than sex. Therefore, be careful whom you choose to cuddle with. Now apart from the emotional aspect, cuddling has some major benefits on the health of an individual.
Lower risk of heart disease: Blood pressure gets reduced with the flow of oxytocin, thereby facilitating better heart health.
Pain relief: The hormone oxytocin when released in the body can ease body pain and can flood your senses with a feel-good factor. Cuddling here serves more of a massage.
Boosts immune system: Cuddling is known to boost your immune system, with very little chances of falling sick.
Reduces stress and anxiety: When in a stressful situation, cuddle acts as a natural stress buster. Increased level of oxytocin can make you feel better and relaxed.
Better sleep: Cuddling at least for ten minutes before you hit the bed can calm you down and can enable you to sleep better and in a peaceful manner.
While cuddling can be delightful in many ways, you should also keep in mind that it is a very powerful weapon that can either be blissful or disastrous. If you want to avoid any emotional attachment and restrict it to just physical pleasure, avoid cuddling. Whereas, if you want to take your relationship to the next level, we suggest you go for it.
