Hundreds of marriages in the UK have ended in divorce because of the video game Fortnite, the Daily Mail reported.

This year alone the Battle Royale game has been cited as the cause for close to 200 marriage break-ups in Britain.

"These numbers equate to roughly five per cent of the 4,665 petitions we have handled since the beginning of the year and as one of the largest filers of divorce petitions in the UK is a pretty good indicator," the report stated.

Research by Divorce Online found addictions to video games, social media and porn were among the other factors that contributed to divorce.

Apart from ruining relationships, experts also warn of the many dangers of online gaming addiction on one's health and well-being.

Previous research has found men are more likely to choose video games over sex when it comes to stress relief.

Video games before bedtime can also make it challenging for you to get enough sleep.
