A sexologist claims women reach their sexual peak earlier than previously thought.

"The best age range is your late 20s to your mid 30s and it's the same for both men and women," Dr Nikki Goldstein, from Sydney, told FEMAIL.

There is sweet spot at this time, according to the expert.

"When you're younger you're still focusing on your career and trying to understand who you are and how your body works," she explained.

"Then when we're a lot older your body starts to work against you and boredom can set in.

"That's why there is a sweet spot when none of this is going on," she said.

This is also the age she believes women start to understand what they want and like.  That helps them have a better experience with sex.

"For men sex is pretty straight forward, I masturbate, I get an erection, I stick it in here, whereas for women so much of their sexuality is hidden and controlled and when they peak they're fighting against this control," Dr Goldstein explained in the FEMAIL report.
