Golfers at the Buffalo Creek Golf Course in Palmetto in Florida were in for a huge shock after they spotted a massive alligator enjoying an afternoon stroll by the lake.

One of the amazed spectators, Charles Helms, who managed to capture the giant reptile on his mobile phone camera, said he first thought that the gator’s appearance was part of a practical joke. “I didn’t know if we were being punked or something,” he told ABC Action News. “It was just laying down, resting, when it got up and started moving towards the big lake.”

However, this is not the first time that the super alligator, which is estimated to be about 15 to 16 feet long, has appeared on the course. “He doesn’t bother anybody and they don’t bother him, he’s like a mascot for the course,” course employee Wendy Schofield told 3 News.
