Tinder goes transgender friendly
The announcement came from none other than Tinder CEO Sean Rad himself.
When the world goes gender fluid in all facets of life, why can’t a dating app join in? The most populous dating app Tinder has hit the headlines again and this time for going transgender-friendly. The announcement came from none other than Tinder CEO Sean Rad himself at the Recode Code Conference in Los Angeles. The new features are expected to get unveiled in a couple of months. The company is reportedly in a research phase, taking response from LGBTQ activists and advisers. Tinder is tight-lipped on what to expect when the feature gets operational.
“For a long time we haven’t done enough to give them a good experience... It’s harder for them to get what they are looking for. We have to modify our experience to address that,” Techcrunch quotes Rad. Tinder was earlier accused on charges of transphobia after, almost a year ago, a user named Solomon was reported by a male user for being a trans. As Tinder amasses user data from Facebook, which is open to people irrespective of gender, this step could in future fortify its user base that has crossed more than 50 million the world over.
