Buzzing with enthusiastic people brimming with ideas and concepts, the 4th edition of The August Fest, a celebration of innovative startups, kicked off in the city on Saturday.

Networking was the mantra, as flyers flew past the counters and phone numbers were exchanged. The two-day festivity aims to bring the best of minds across India and the world on one platform and has gone bigger and better with speakers from Hong Kong, Singapore and Spain on board.

“There are 107 speakers inspiring thousands (12,000 to be precise) of minds. With 125 start-up pitches, people can network or find partners,” says Kiran Maverick, the brain behind the initiative. While one hall houses stalls of the startups, the other hall has speakers and workshops.

Flytta, an app to help people migrate from one city to another with ease, was one of the interesting start-ups present at the event. “With services like shortlisting homes and school for children, and arranging for telecom, gas connection and other services, we aim to make life easier for people who are moving,” says its co-founder, Aman Kulshrestha.

Another start-up at the event, Mapta, is an app that allows you to tag your location to a website for easy navigation. Few other start-ups present at the event were Passionconnect, Sportsjun and Spoteye.

Speaking on the topic, ‘What it takes to build success stories from Hyderabad’, Minister for Information Technology, K. T. Rama Rao said, “It is the right time for the city to move beyond being a ‘start-up city’ to something bigger.”
