25-year-old woman shrinks to toddler size due to rare bone disease
Kunti is apparently suffering from a serious health condition which has resulted in her bones to curve and shrink.
Life has become tragically difficult for Kumari Kunti who lives in a rural village in Chatra, Jharkhand. The 25-year-old is just a little bigger than a toddler after having shrunk from her former four feet height to being just two feet tall at present. Kunti is apparently suffering from a serious health condition which has resulted in her bones to curve and shrink over the past several years.
Her mother, Devi Tilakwa, 60, claims that her daughter was born normal with healthy limbs but struggled to walk in her teens after her bones started weakening, reports the Daily Mail. What initially started as a limp, gradually resulted in her losing all physical strength and shrink over the years.
She is believed to be suffering from osteogenesis imperfecta (OI), which is a brittle bone disease. Triggered by a genetic mutation that affects how the body produces collagen, OI disease causes its sufferers to have curved bones that fracture easily along with weak muscles. Although it is not a completely curable disease, it can be more bearable with proper medication.
Fortunately, members of Kunti’s village have raised money to help regarding her medical expenses and have also assisted her family by fixing appointments with doctors in big cities.
