They say a good friend is someone who may not always be with you but who’ll always be there for you. Some friendships are truly special. These happy bonds of togetherness are nurtured all throughout our lives. From Jr NTR and Rajeev Kanakala to RJ Ayushi and KK, and Anam Mirza and Tanusha Bajaj, there are admirable friendships all around. In a chat with Deccan Chronicle, these people from the city tell us how they are fastened together for life, despite being different individuals.

An emotional connection
Talking about the bond he shares with Jr NTR, Rajeev Kanakala says, “Our friendship dates back to 2000. Tarak (Jr NTR) has been there for me during my highs and lows. Both of us are very emotional and I guess that’s why we connect with each other even better. As a co-star, Tarak greatly helps me understand the characterisations and the script.”

Jr NTR shares that Rajeev is someone he trusts a lot and that their friendship is not confined to the film sets. “I have known Rajeev for 20 years! He is one of those guys whom I can share things with and trust. We keep discussing a lot of cinema, scripts, roles, etc. We also have fun when not shooting. The best part of our relationship is we have mutual respect for each other and value each other’s commitments.”

Rajeev further adds that Jr NTR is a fun companion. “On the sets, Tarak is a prankster and keeps pulling my leg all the time. We have friends from all phases, but Tarak is someone special,” he concludes.

A fun-filled friendship
Lots of people want to ride with you in the limo, but what you want is someone who will take the bus with you when the limo breaks down!

RJ Ayushi Singh and singer KK believe they are the kind of friends who may not chat on a daily basis but whenever they meet and hang out, they have the world’s funniest conversations. The bond they share is very special.

Says Ayushi, “Friendship isn’t about who you’ve known the longest, it’s about who walked into your life, said I’m here for you and proved it. That is KK for me. The best thing about our friendship is he makes me laugh out loud. I was once unable to send him messages and he said ‘mujhe mere phone ki khabar leni padegi’, and that made me laugh a lot. I think KK is a lovely person and a fantastic friend.

Tied at the waist — Anam Mirza and Tanusha Bajaj
They may have started off as colleagues but they’re now inseparable. Tanusha joined as an intern at The Label Bazaar, which was founded by Anam Mirza. Two years, four cities and 13 events later, they are the best of friends. Of course, they work together and spend most part of their day together like we all do with our colleagues but these two also spend their non-working hours together — shopping, brunching, partying and even having sleepovers. Even though they belong to different age groups and come from different backgrounds, they share a love for fashion and media. They believe they only need some lipstick and magic to take over the world.

Tanusha Bajaj and Anam Mirza

Speaking about their friendship, Tanusha says, “Anam is a boss lady, she is my boss lady at least. There is so much to learn from her in terms of work and even as a human being. She’s absolutely exceptional at what she does but more than anything, she has a heart of gold.”

Tanusha adds, “She always puts other people ahead of herself and really goes out of her way for the people she loves. Sometimes I feel like she’s my mother because she lets me go all out and make mistakes and learn from them. She also always tries to shelter me and has my back. We’ve made some insane memories together. I owe so much of who I am today to Anam and her family.”

Seems like Anam is extremely fond of Tanusha. “Tanusha joined us as an intern almost three years ago. I don’t know how from an employee she changed into one of my closest friends, and from a friend to family. People always joke around and tell me, I am Tanusha’s ‘mom’,” says Anam.

She adds, “It is true, she is like my little baby. I’m extremely protective of her and I treat her like my little sister and a family member. Sometimes, through the course of work, you find friends like her whom you’ll hold on to for a lifetime.”
