Gates’s to-be son-in-law makes his Olympic mark
Bill and Melinda unite over cheering for one athlete at Tokyo 2020. Here’s who
Egyptian equestrian champ Nayel Nasser is giving the recently estranged Gates couple something to cheer about, just a few hours after a Washington court announced the duo to be officially divorced. Going by both Bill and Melinda’s separate Instagram posts, Nayel surely seems to have made Tokyo 2020 special for the former Gates couple.
Nayel, who is engaged to Melinda and Bill’s daughter Jennifer Gates, has qualified into the finals of the equestrian event at the games, with a clear run of 17 obstacles in time.
Melinda shared her joy and pride for her Egyptian future son-in-law by posting a picture of Nayel on his horse Igor van de Wittemoere on her Instagram page. “I always love watching the Olympics. The #TokyoOlympics are particularly special because I get to cheer on my future son-in-law, @nayelnassar! We are so proud of you, Nayel (and Igor)! [sic].” she wrote.
Even former husband Bill left his wishes for the young man on his Instagram page. Against a picture of Nayel and Igor in action, clearing an obstacle, Bill’s caption read, “I’m rooting for lots of the athletes in Tokyo right now—but none more than my soon-to-be son-in-law, @nayelnassar. Good luck, Nayel! [sic].”
