The excited audience at the auditorium were busy discussing how easily celebrities get everything in life when Pro Kabaddi League director Charu Sharma, actor Lakshmi Manchu, Baahubali producer Shobu Yarlagadda and Sporty Media chief executive Ashish Chadha walked in. A huge applause greeted them to the panel discussion on “Opportunities in Indian sports and entertainment industry”, held as part of the August Fest on Sunday.

Charu went on to share about how his mountaineering experience helped him wade through rejections. Quite contrary to the popular belief that celebrities have it easy, the discussion pointed out how even established personalities have gone down the bumpy lane.

“Success is not achieved in a day. You need to work hard, face lots of rejections and be ready to sacrifice to gain success,” said Charu.

Echoing the same sentiment, Lakshmi said, “I struggled a lot when I was in Los Angeles. Whenever I went for auditions, people would ask about my previous works. I had to lie. I got to do only small roles in short films.”

Even Shobu had to face challenges before he hit the jackpot with Baahubali. “People thought I was crazy to invest so much money to make a single film and now when it has succeeded, the same people call me a genius,” says Shobu.

Stars or not, to chase your dreams and attain success, the mantra is “believe in yourself”.
