An accurate role model
Sihabudheen Palliyalil has had a difficult life but his hard work paid off in a big way.
One should never underestimate the power of dreams. Had Kadeesakutty, a labourer in the plantations of Wayanad, not dreamed big, she would probably not have had three PhD scholars in the family.
Her fifth son Sihabudheen Palliyalil is a PhD scholar working under the guidance of Professor Arunkumar Patnaik at the Department of Political Science, School of Social Sciences, University of Hyderabad. He recently presented a paper titled ‘Patronage and Power: The Politics of Indian Union Muslim League’ at the 25th European Conference on South Asian Studies.
Sihabudeen’s not had an easy life. He acknowledges his mother’s efforts in his journey so far and shares, “My mother’s relentless struggle and courage, even in a difficult situation, has inspired me to overcome all the hurdles I have faced so far.” After graduation, he worked as a wage labourer for two years to meet his educational expenses and then joined the University of Hyderabad for a Masters in Philosophy.
Sihabudeen has also been invited to present a paper at the 6th International Conference on Nusantara Philosophy that will be held at Gadjah Mada University, Indonesia, in October.
