Video: Poland unveils glow in the dark solar powered cycling path
It can emit light for 10 hours at a time after charging all day in the sun.
Poland:
Rising pollution and fuel guzzling automobiles contributing more to climate change have led to an alarming situation where governments across the world are trying to cut down on emissions by all means possible.
While governments in India are introducing methods ranging from promoting horse riding to introducing rules similar to Delhi’s Odd Even, promoting cycling as an eco-friendly travel option is popular.
In a similar attempt to make cycling fun and attractive, Poland just unveiled a cycling path that illuminates in the dark and is powered by solar energy it collects all day from the sun.
The path near Lidzbark Warminski is made from synthetic material and has been created by TPA Instytut Badan Technicznych Sp. z o.o. In one charge, the path emits bright blue lighting for ten hours at a time.
Although it’s inspired by the Starry Night bike lane in Netherlands, the difference is that this one charges itself while Starry Night is dependent on LEDs. The initiative not only promotes eco-friendly transportation, but also uses green energy.
