The 23-year-old business analyst is offering free public speaking classes as part of her initiative that hopes to inculcate confidence in students.

Shwetha Srinivasan, a 23-year-old business analyst, always had a way with words. But what egged her on to set up intensive public speaking activities in school was the innate desire to help individuals bridge the gap between what one thinks and what one says. Her debut commercial offering, The FrontRunner Initiative aims to do the same — and that too with a  no-judgement approach! In a candid chat, Shwetha tells us about her upcoming free workshop for high school children in schools in Indira Nagar.

“As a child, I often got selected for elecutions and debates. While, it gave me an instant ego boost, it often left me wondering why was it that people who were already good at something were always zeroed in on. Why weren’t efforts made to hone the redundant communication skills among kids who weren’t prepared to speak on stage? That’s when I began forming small groups in school to help kids out,” shares the alumnus of Sastra University.

While she set foot with an intent to help people shed inhibitions and combat the fear of being judged, Shwetha adds, “I think no matter how prolific a person you are, there’s always a lingering thought about what people think. I think that’s a mental barrier which stops and perhaps kills many people’s dreams of being a public speaker. My sessions, apart from being free monetarily,, also aim at freeing someone from being judged while they speak.” Shwetha’s public speaking sessions will be conducted over the weekends  in and around Indiranagar and is open to all age groups. “Effective communication is imperative irrespective of what you do, or how old you are. I hope to make these sessions fun, and let you speak what’s exactly on your mind without second thoughts of being laughed at!”

With a day job to juggle along with her recently mushroomed venture, this city lass has her hands full. But is she complaining? Not really. “I’m fortunate enough to be pursuing what I love. So when I’m not helping people speak up, you’d find me blogging about women-centric and current issues. That aside, I’d be exploring food places in and around town,” she signs off.
