Kottayam: Abheesh P. Dominic, 32, has a ‘fist of fury,’ but he uses it only to break coconut shells  and create records.  Coconut shells crack like eggs before him  and he wants to enter the Guinness Book of World Records  by breaking 140 coconuts in one minute. Mr Abheesh, a native of Kaipally near Poonjar,  and a mechanic at the  Erattupetta KSRTC depot, had secured a place in the Limca Books of Records by breaking 136 coconut shells in a minute in 2015. He now wants  to create another record by ripping open  three coconut shells in a second  in Thrissur on March 18.

Mr Abheesh practised his ‘art’  while he was just 15 by punching at  stones and gradually gained the skill to crack  the tough  shells. “I wanted to do things differently which prompted me to attempt  to break the ‘unbreakable’ nuts,” he told DC. He has gained physical fitness and mental  power through the discipline he has practised.  “I have never touched liquor, cigarettes or other  intoxicants and take only natural food and vegetables mostly,” he added.   Abheesh  begins the  day with   breathing exercise and later does other items like push-ups and chin-ups.   The state is yet to recognise his accomplishments, said  Abheesh, the father of a four-year-old daughter. He has been a  temporary  employee with  the KSRTC for the last 10 years.
