Pondy hosts vintage beauties including Gemini's Chevrolet
Everyone was busy with posing for photos with the cars and taking selfies and car owners didn't mind it.
Puducherry: It was a feast for the eyes of car enthusiasts and the public who visited the beach on Saturday evening as they got a chance to take a look at the vintage vehicles on display at the beach road here. Around 60 vintage cars were lined up on the beach road from 5 pm giving the public a chance to glimpse the beauties on wheels.

The heritage car display is being organised by Madras Heritage Motoring Club associating with Puducherry Tourism as part of the 8th edition of ‘Chennai - Pondy heritage car rally’.
An effort aimed at showcasing vintage cars that have been maintained in excellent condition due to the efforts of motorcar enthusiasts.
The various car models that came were from the period 1927-1975 that include historic Chevrolet of the 1950s used by veteran actor Gemini Ganesan.
Byron John Michael, a resident of Puducherry who worked in the French army for 15 years, bought 8 vintage vehicles including car and bikes to the show.
“I have a collection of 18 vintage vehicles, most of them brought from France when I worked with the Army”, he said.
His collection includes vintage cars Citreon (1951), Herald-Standard 1964 exported from England, Sunbeam 1951 model bike which is the only one piece of its kind in Puducherry.
The vehicles were also used in some Tamil films, including Nanum Rowdy Than. The car models in the display include Mercidez Benz (1954), Baby Hindustan (1958) Morris_8 (1948), Dodge Kingsway (1956), Citreon (1945), Fiat 1100, Chevrolet Fleet Master (1948), Buick Super 8 (1948), Triumph Herald, Fox Wagon, Ambassador and Chummy.
“These cars are being well maintained by the efforts of motorcar enthusiasts who preserve and show off their road-worthiness during the rally. The rally is a show for experiencing the most classic styles and lots of vintage or classic cars and bikes will make this the talk of the town”, said one of the volunteers of the Madras Heritage Motoring Club Puducherry Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy inaugurated the heritage car display at the beach promenade.
