In a country where periods are rarely discussed in the public sphere and menstruating women are actually forbidden to even enter some places of worship, openly cracking jokes about periods might be deemed unthinkable. But comedian Aditi Mittal takes up the challenge and leaves people in splits in a video that has gone viral on social media.

The video shows Mittal commenting on a variety of issues – how sanitary napkins are ridiculously advertised in the mass media, her puberty experiences at school and even poking fun at the patterns and designs on a standard sanitary pad.

Her witty jokes and boisterous style leave the audiences – both men and women – guffawing and applauding. Let’s also hope that our society becomes more receptive to discussing and tackling matters of menstruation and women’s issues in the coming future.
