The state-wide music competition gives the up-and-coming talents a bigger platform than ever before.
A leading smart phone company is organising a music competition for emerging talent. The event will feature budding musicians from Tamil Nadu who will perform in diverse categories including acoustic/a cappella, light music, heavy metal/rock and hip-hop. They will compete for the chance to go on a national tour with the company, as well as to receive exciting cash prizes.
The state-wide music competition gives the up-and-coming talents a bigger platform than ever before. Through engaging with people from all over the state, from college students to music industry professionals and social media influencers, youngsters will get to experience what it is like playing to large audiences. Participants will get the chance to perform live in front of the celebrity judges Shakthisree Gopalan, Vijay Prakash, Amitash Pradhan and Sean Roldan for the finals and receive valuable feedback.
When asked what they are expecting from young talent, Vijay Prakash said that the state had talent for generations now that has inspired the musicians across the country. Amitash Pradhan added to it by saying it is exciting because most of the time on reality shows, they either hear film music or coke studio zone music, which isn't available in the south. The judges are excited the competition is open to independent artistes, musicians and bands. And they are looking forward to hearing artistes in the genre of hip hop, rock, metal, rap, acoustic, a cappella and light music.
When asked about the opportunities these contestants will be getting from this platform, they said that this generation of contestants is getting the biggest exposure. The participants can make the best use of the platform by using the social media sites and upload their art work (music). And in today's world, the musicians get best chance through collaborations. Most artists including Sean Roldan will be more than happy to collaborate with the artistes for either individual numbers or movies.
Shaktishree Gopalan will be performing with her band on the day of finals. “Every performance is special and unique. There is no replica of an event. That moment as musicians on stage there are so many of us connecting through music and it is a very special experience. Even if I have performed the same song earlier, it doesn't matter. I cherish the moment that we all connect with that music or song and connect with each other's energy.
The size of the crowd doesn't matter. I still get butterflies in my stomach before I get on stage. Because it is an exciting moment, the anticipation of that energy is also an added factor. The band, the musicians are in their zones and a lot of the time spontaneous magic happens. I am going to be performing a lot of my originals and I am super excited,” she said.
