Mum's the word & their world too
On Mother's Day, we speak to Bengaluru's popular faces to find out on the bond they share with their mums.
You probably would’ve bickered over the most insignificant details with her, and yet turned to her for unwavering support. Whether she’s your 3 am buddy or a tough taskmaster, mums (of all kind) have a special place in our lives – for reasons aplenty. And, namma ooru’s celebs aren’t any different. In a candid chat with Bengaluru Chronicle, they let us in on their equation with their mommy dearest and what’s on the cards for the special day.
Aviva Bidapa, model and entrepreneur
“Truth be told, I’m a daddy’s girl but mum has been my guiding force all my life. Since we’re all busy doing our own thing, I think it’s important to pull out time and break away from the daily rut. We’re taking off to Coorg and it’s going to be a private dinner specially for mum. This has been a family ritual, and has taught me the importance of family bonding irrespective of the day or occasion.”
Aindrita Ray, Sandalwood actress
“Mum and I are pretty much like buddies. I can share my deepest secrets with her without fearing judgments. Off all things I love about her, what tops the list is the fact that she keeps little expectations. Even from those who are the closest to her. Being kind, a child at heart and keeping your innocence intact by seeking joy in the smallest of life’s offerings are what she taught me and my sister. As she’s a frills-free person, I’m steering away from fancy dining places for the day. Instead, I’m going to be filling her room with fresh tuberoses!”
Varijashree Venugopal, Musician
“In music, there is an old saying that goes Shruthirmaata Layaha Pitaha, which means that ‘Shruthi’ and ‘Laya’ are the governing parents of music. ‘Shruthi’ is the mother of music, the foundation or a reference point to music. To put it in a better way, ‘Shruthi’ is the soul of music. But, in the song of life, a mother is our ‘Shruthi’, the reason for our existence. In my life, she was the one who initiated me into music when I was inside her womb. Today, music has become my life, and I owe it to her for having passed positive vibrations to me since the first minute of my existence. I don’t believe in special days, but yes, I hope to spend more time with her.”
Priyamani, South Indian actress
“My equation with mum is as regular as it gets. While I’m in the midst of a shoot in Mysuru, I plan on getting back to town (Bengaluru) and spending quality time with her. It’s going to be a home bound sort of an affair, as my mum loves to spend time indoors with her family. But I’ve promised myself to get better at prioritising. That’s a promise!”
