It’s not about winning or losing a game, but about having one heck of a time and thinking out-of-the-box. The brain loves novelty, so why not give it the daily workout it needs by constantly challenging it. Bengaluru’s youngsters are always game for something exciting and are known to experiment with innovative and fun ideas. With the idea of challenging and strengthening your grey cells, Brain Games Bengaluru hopes to shed some light on the need for intellectual games, alongside the traditional physical sports by redefining the sporting culture with intellectual 11 mind boggling competitions.

Passionate about sports, be it indoor or outdoor, Jitendra Joshi, co-founder, SportzConsult says, “We are always enthusiastic about ideas and programmes that help students lead truly balanced lives. Sports has a lot to offer to any student interested in making it a part of her or his life. The participation in events like Brain Games help youngsters develop responsibility and a sense of purpose. They form bonds with their peers, become part of new communities and learn about their own talent, interests, strengths and limits. The pride of playing coupled with positive values like discipline, determination and fair play that any sport teaches, can go a long way in shaping life.”

Brain Games 2016 will consist of various games such as Spell Bee, Chess, Math Bee, Quiz, Crossword, Sudoku, Puzzles, Name It, Unjumble, Word Games, Lateral Thinking.

Talking of her love for brain twisters, Bhumika Murugan says, “These brain games are a wonderful opportunity to broaden our horizons. The experience has been amazing so far and we have gained a lot of valuable knowledge through participating in these contests.” Another youngster from the city, who is participating in the competition is Syed Muheeb, who shares, “These games are a lot of learning. It’s a great workout for a brain, making them work at the speed of light! Although some of them can be quite tough, it’s a great way to spend time with the peer group.”

Like your muscles, if you neglect your brain, it won’t grow. Although just about anyone can play Sudoku, logical thinkers will find it thrilling. Prasanna Seshadri, a Sudoku champion from the city shares, “I think there is a need to show kids that activities involving thinking can be fun. I’m a great example of someone who is intelligent but didn’t fit the specific ‘academic intelligence’, mostly because I did not find it interesting. Puzzles gave me a new sense of motivation and challenged my intellect in fun new ways, and this is the kind of experience and opportunity that such games bring.”
