SUM'thing special is up!
This much talked about youth festival is slated to take place today. We get city youngsters to tell us what they are looking forward to...
On social media and off it; the U25 Summit is what nammooru's young crop is excited about. Unbridled enthusiasm and zest to network, inspire and be inspired – the fifth edition of the summit's theme is 'Belong Together’, signifying the coming together of communities that impact the youth of the country today. Slated to take place on February 18th, the city will play host to a youth festival that brings together achievers from myriad fields with one element in common – the drive to give their best in whatever they choose to do.
In a candid chat, we ask young folk about their expectations about a much talked about event. Akhilesh Kumar, who is absolutely stoked about performing live with his band One Girl Shy at the summit adds, “I've played at the U25 summit twice. And both the times, I've had a responsive crowd. Bengalureans and the ones who attend the summit are very interactive and they get the idea of an original act. So, I'm very kicked about having them be a part of the anniversary tour!I love their energy and they just push the performance that much more – where you come away knowing you had a GREAT show. The first time I played I was a solo artist, the second time was with OGS, but an acoustic set. And both were amazing experiences. So, I can't wait to see what they are gonna do at an all original electric show.” While local live acts can't wait to enthrall the audiences; the summit is also perceived as a pad to recognise and nourish young talent. Sidharth Bharadwaj, also known as BhardyFluter, explains, “We're curating 8 artists for the event. The summit is a space not just for commercial purposes. There's a great deal of learning and fun in the open. Also a great place to network, I'm certainly looking out for new talents!” That aside, he quips, “A treat from the U25 team at the after party, wouldn't hurt.” Varshita Ramesh, a 19-year-old student from Mount Carmel College states,“So, I'm really excited because I know that the U-25 summit is a huge event and this is a great opportunity for me. I'm going to be playing my originals that too for a wide audience. Honestly, it is making me a little nervous but, more than anything ,I'm just looking forward to meeting new people.”
Watch out for: Last year, keynote speakers included Arnab Goswami, comedians Tanmay Bhat, Kenny Sebastian, Mallika Dua, amongst others.
