Pakistan Twitter witty, graceful in defeat
Pakistan may have lost Sunday’s World Cup match against arch rival India, but the nation’s Twitter won hearts even on this side of the border.
They certainly did not have Indian fans on their side at the start of the all-important India-Pakistan cricket World Cup match in Manchester on Sunday, but post Pakistan’s defeat at the hands of an Indian cricket team in top form, Indian fans had only admiration and words of praise for the opponent, whose Twitter was filled with jokes, sporting memes, witty one-liners and praise for the winning side.
While Team India may have won the match, it was clearly Pakistan Twitter that won hearts for displaying an amazing sporting spirit and sense of humour that did not go unnoticed.
Sadly, Indian Twitter was unsporting.
@ReallySwara | It has to be said... Pakistani trolling is way better than Indian trolling.. imagination + humour- not just gaali galoch- also that though !
@nerdypri | The way pak twitter is taking this game is applaudable. Despite being disappointed, They are praising indian team. Gotta give it up for pakistan supporters for the demeanor they maintained throughout the game.
Naila Inayat@nailainayat | Kuch bhi hu, toss tu Pakistan he jeeta tha.
@shzbkhn | Don’t call me a traitor, but look at the Indian players, they look like proper athletes, our players look like they’ve eaten two plates of waris nihari with feeqay ki lassi and benazir kulfa, all at once.
Riasat Ki Maut @mahobili | Siblings have gathered at Ami’s room so we can ask her “hamain is din kay liye payda kia tha?” #pakvind Aleena@alinaamajeed | Na partition hoti na hum zaleel ho rahe hote@NakuulMehta A sense of humour never hurt anybody. I am actually enjoying Pakistan Twitter a lot more than ours today. Legit fun! Side note: we are a better side, every day of the week. :)
@sardesairajdeep The humour in defeat shown by Pakistan fans is to be applauded: here is a classic: 'Kisi ne sahi kaha hai.."Pakistan bowling kare to lagta hai batting pitch hai, Batting kare to lagta hai bowling pitch hai’??
