ADIMALI: This event was a reflection of the young generation on themselves. The children of high school were asked to debate through power point presentation whether the use of social media is good or bad. And the power point presentation event proved that the children are quite aware of the pitfalls in the use of social media and also know that the user makes the difference in this world. Students were given one hour to prepare the power point presentations and five minutes to present them.

All said that there are enormous opportunities in the social media world and it needs to be used carefully. It was for a girl participant to say that danger lurks around for girls in this world where privacy is dented. She said that fraudsters are on the prowl to trap young girls and they need to secure their privacy. A young boy said that it is a platform also to build genuine friendships and for exchange of ideas and debates and for e-commerce. One student pointed out that those abuse the space are terrorists, hackers and profit-greedy MNCs.  Another student said that it is a platform to know trends in fashion.

All those who presented agreed that social media has now enormous influence. One of the students said that people fail to meet face to face due to social media interaction. It helps in education, most of them felt, but the otherwise use of the space can damage studies. It is the user who decides whether it is a boon or bane. Some the students linked the increased use to the Digital India campaign of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Overuse can lead to physical and mental stress and health hazards.
