Stepping into world of lyrics
Bijibal to set music to Abhirami's lines for a Christmas song.
She sounds confident and proud while saying she is very much on the path that her father had dreamt of. Abhirami was introduced to world of books by her father and it was then she realised that reading can be one of the centre pillars in constructing her personality and character. Reading, in turn, persuaded her to think critically about what is happening around her and thus she started penning down her views as beautiful poems. This 12th standard girl, daughter of prominent lyricist and poet M.R Jayageetha, has started journey towards success by writing the lyrics for a song to be composed by music director Bijipal.
“If it was my father who introduced me to the world of books, my mother was the one who encouraged me to write and I am glad that I could live up to their expectations,” says, Abhirami, who is excited about the opportunity she has got.
She is all praises for Bijipal and commenting on her experience working on the song for the film Oru Kaatil Oru Paykappal, she adds, “I really feel privileged to have associated with a music director of such range and expertise. He sent me the tune for the song and told me that it’s a Christmas song and that I needed to write the lyrics in English. He had no specific conditions regarding the lyrics. I heard the tune multiple times and started writing. I sang the song when we me Bijipal sir and he instantly agreed to the lyrics. I was almost sure that he would at least ask me to make minor changes. But he was happy with what I had written. This is extremely overwhelming and encouraging.”
Abhirami says the conversation between her parents on disturbing events in society was the trigger for her to start penning down her thoughts.
“They never used to talk about anything unnecessary at least when I was around. Anything and everything happening around us was the topic of our discussion. Those conversations were so much thought-provoking that I couldn’t resist myself other than writing about them,” says Abhirami who adds that it was a dream moment for her when she was applauded for her poem by ace writer Nayantara.
