There are many people who face people who make fun of them for the disabilities they suffer every day and while some can deal with it, many cannot. A barista at took the whole idea of teasing to another level when he poked fun at a customer for stammering by writing his name with a stammer.

According to a report in the Metro, Richard Procter went to a Starbucks at Ashford International railway station in Kent to have his coffee; however he was surprised when the barista at the counter gave him his cup. The cup of coffee with his name was written as ‘R R R Richard’ because he had a stammering problem that the barista noticed. The coffee chain which writes its customers name on the cup had a rather different approach to this one when the barista penned the name.

“The treatment I received from one of [Starbucks] staff this morning was extremely offensive and humiliating,” said Procter who owns an IT company. He also went on to say that it would definitely have not happened if it was a person with more obvious disabilities and it is not acceptable in public. While the photo went viral, Chief executive of The British Stammering Association (BSA) Norbert Lieckfeldt said: ‘This is just another example of the ridicule and thoughtlessness that people who stammer face every day and which makes living your life with a stammer so hard.”

Starbucks has been quick to apologise to Richard Procter and have also suspended the barista involved in the incident.
