Over the course of the last few months, as the world has been forced to take on the challenge of the COVID-19 pandemic, perspective has been key for many striving to maintain positivity—especially for those who are creative. For pop synth artist I Am Boleyn, despite cancelled gigs and events, she’s been less focused on the things she can’t do at the moment and instead, pouring herself into everything she can.

Though she was due to perform at Photo London at Somerset House, the renowned photography event was unavoidably postponed. In light of the current stay-home order, Photo London has organized a virtual tour of the gallery for guests to engage with online. In addition, I Am Boleyn will partake in an online conversation portion of the virtual gallery where she will perform and discuss music and art, tentatively scheduled for June 19th.

And in place of the time she would normally spend with her music and songwriting collective FMLY Sthlm in Sweden, I Am Boleyn has resorted to Zoom writing sessions where together, she and the group collaborate virtually.

“In terms of writing music, I’ve realized how lucky we are to be able to do so many things online,” she says.

In fact, the quarantine hasn’t inhibited her from releasing new music at all. Due out June 26th, I Am Boleyn will debut summer single In Between, a fun dance song perfect for the season. Despite the fact that many still face a summer of uncertainty due to COVID, the UK-based artist feels the new song will encourage positivity and joy. Also due out July 3rd, she looks forward to releasing a remix by Italian DJ Tokyo Project of her popular song Just Friends.

“If the sun is shining, people are still dancing on their balconies and in their backyards, as we’ve seen on social media,” I Am Boleyn says. “You don’t have to be in a nightclub to listen to dance music.”

While the future remains in question, I Am Boleyn has nothing but hope for what’s ahead, looking forward to even the simplest things like being close to other people again. As she surges ahead, continuing to write and share her music in whatever capacity possible, she looks forward to the days of collaborating with other artists in person.

“Looking ahead, I feel really excited to be able to be in a room of people again, and feel that synergy through the song writing process,” she says.

Be sure to check out I Am Boleyn on Spotify and Apple Music and stay tuned for her new single, In Between and the Just Friends x Tokyo Project remix coming soon.
