Bosco students build a house for a poor family
Amount of Rs 2 lakh was raised from public
KOZHIKODE: In a commendable act of social service, the students of Don Bosco Arts and Science College, Angadikadavu, along with the Social Works department have constructed a house to a poor family in Vanniyapara near Irritty. It was with the amount raised from public that the students managed to construct a house of Rs 2 lakh to the family of Chacko. The house was constructed in the seven cents of plot given by ‘Angadikadavu Thiruhridaya Parish’.
The students used to arrive at the spot almost every day during the last few months and helped with carrying bricks from trolleys to the construction site, preparing cement mixture, digging earth and handing over the material to masons. “It was in a time frame of 101 days that the students completed the works of the house”, said Social Works Department Head Father Joby. The spirit of the group was very high and all of them worked as hard as the labourers at the site to help out the poor people.
“Along with their academic studies, students have also excelled in showing their responsibility towards the society,” he further added. The college Manager Father Dr K.O. Thomas, Principal Father Francis Karakkat and Angadikadavu Thiruhridaya Parish priest Father Thomas Mundamattathil handed over the key to Chacko and his family in a function held on Friday.
