Virushka came for dinner
Virat and Anushka were the first celeb visitors at a new vegetarian restaurant in London
Two days after India’s historic win against England at Lord’s, skipper Virat Kohli and his actress wife Anushka Sharma paid a visit to a vegetarian restaurant — Tendril Kitchen — at London.
“We are a very new restaurant and have only been operational at this site in central London for four months,” the owner and main chef Rishim Sachdeva, said, speaking exclusively to DC over phone from London. “Obviously they were the first celebrities to have tasted the food at our place.”
How did they come to know about the restaurant, we asked. “Well, they Googled and checked it out online,” replied Rishim. “Anushka said they loved the pictures and the reviews. They immediately booked a table and we were happy to host them.”
Rishim explained that theirs is not only a vegetarian restaurant, but serves mainly vegan food. “Virat and Anushka are vegetarians and liked the food here,” he revealed. “We also do a tasting menu, where you get a bit of everything on the menu. They loved it and finished each and every plate,” he added.
“I didn’t discuss cricket with Kohli but we talked about food, the sourcing of ingredients, etc. We also talked about clean and healthy food habits and how vegetarian / vegan food is good for the planet and our own health,” the restauranteur said.Kohli recommended the restaurant to his team mates and the next day spinner R. Ashwin dropped in.
Delhi-born Rishim earlier worked at the Olive Restaurant in Mumbai, where Shah Rukh Khan was a frequent visitor. The actor had reportedly asked the chef to share some of his recipes.
