A 20-year-old man, named Lingaraju S, in Vijaypura has proved to be luckier than the proverbial cat with nine lives after he remained alive in spite of being bitten by snakes several times. In fact, he was attacked by four snakes, including two king cobras in the last one month alone.

Lingaraju, who hails from a poor family, was first bitten around five years ago in Solapur. After he was bitten seven more times, his concerned parents consulted a doctor who put him on medication for a period of over six months, according to local reports.

The family decided to shift to Vijaypura believing that their son was getting snakebites because of a 'curse' in Solapur. However, moving to a new place did nothing to prevent the snakebites and he got bitten four times in just a span of a month.

His parents have now compelled him to quit work and stay at home. Somshekar H, the village Ayurvedic doctor who has treated Lingaraju twice, remarked that it was a miracle that he was still alive after suffering so many snakebites. As the rural family is unable to afford a consultation in Bengaluru city, they seem to have no choice but to continue to live with the ‘curse’.
