Image of queues in Kerala goes viral because of lungis amidst demonetisation woes
The two lines, seen in the picture outside an ATM and a liquor store, have a very interesting distinction.
Kozhikode: As the demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 currency notes has resulted in long lines outside banks and ATMs across the nation, people are struggling to come up with ideas to reduce inconvenience amidst the shortage of cash.
But while Keralites came up with a solution to standing in lines by leaving their names on a piece of paper to mark their spot, they are now making news for something very interesting, their lungis.
A picture of people standing in two separate lines with their lungis worn differently has gone viral on the internet and it has created a buzz since one line is for an ATM and another is seen in front of a liquor shop.
Not only was the line at the liquor shop longer, the people lining up for ATM had lungis unfolded, those outside the liquor shop had theirs folded up. Norm in the state is that the lungi must remain unfolded when visiting a temple or place where decorum must be maintained, while it is to be folded up when engaging in physical activities.

To PM Modi : Either to ask liquor shops to accept old notes Or ask banks to sell liquor. We can't stand in two lines each day. 😂#Kerala pic.twitter.com/nAvAzb18AI
