Game with movie attracting kids
Trend started with Marvel Avengers', parents pressurised to buy them.
Vijayawada: The lure of Hollywood is attracting the attention of children and teenagers of Vijayawada. Hollywood moviemakers have been releasing online games before the release of the movie. This trend started with the Marvel “Avengers” series and kids of all ages have been insisting that their parents buy them PlayStations and other gizmos to play those games.
Recently, the movie “Tomb Raider” followed a similar pattern and raked in big bucks. In Vijayawada, the sale of Tomb Raider game is impressive.
PlayStations are a different concept in the gaming culture. Playing a game will give a new thrill to children and as well as teenagers, who derive more pleasure than playing them on mobile and online games. As PlayStations are expensive, only upper middle-class and the rich can afford it. Presently PlayStation PS 4 version is in the market, version 5 will be released in the second half of 2018. PS 4, made by various manufacturers, ranges from Rs 30,000 to Rs 50,000.
Despite the high cost, children have been forcing their parents to buy these gaming consoles since the games are linked to Hollywood movies. As Captain America, Justice League, Thor, Ironman in the Marvel Avenger’s series, all are super hit movies, all socio-fantasy and sci-fi movies, children are rather attracted to them. A copy of the Tomb Raider game costs Rs 1,500, yet the sales are good. Mr Ramlal, a trader, told this newspaper, “We have be-en getting good response for PlayStations and game discs. Compared to last year, we saw an increase of 40 per cent in sales on PlayStations. As far as CDs are concerned, sales have doubled”.
P. Abhiram, a student said, “While playing a game on PlayStation, we will get a feeling of reality, as it is virtual game. Tomb Raider is the series of Angelina Jolie movies previously, now the Alicia Vikander has done tremendous job. That is why I like to play this latest Tomb Raider game.”
