Woman found decomposing while still alive
Authorities also found her covered in maggots and cockroaches.
Authorities in Georgia (US) discovered a woman living in filth, "partly decomposing and covered in cockroaches and maggots", The Washington Post reported.
The discovery was made last week after first responders were alerted to an unresponsive person.
An incident report from the Gwinnett County Police Department, described the scene as “deplorable", with roaches all over the walls and garbage almost touching the ceiling.
The woman, identified as Tracie Sorrells, was found to be bedridden. Firefighters from Gwinnett County also revealed the women was found lying over the same tarp they used a month ago designed to transport obese patients. It was soiled.
Her husband and 18-year-old son were arrested and charged with neglect, online booking records revealed. Her son is said to have told police that money is tight as no one in the family has a job.
