Moolah-less moments!
Youngsters show you how to have a good time in Bengaluru with a limited budget.
Don’t have a lot of moolah on you, and still wish to indulge in some harmless frolic? Well, you’re at the right place, literally – Bengaluru may not necessarily be a city that doesn’t sleep, but is certainly a melting pot for peeps who wish to save up on a few bucks and yet have Insta/late-gram worthy memories... We get chatty with smart savers who divulge interesting anecdotes from their nearly broke but banger scenes...
“This is one city, where a humble 100 bucks can bring you mammoth joy! My vote goes to kick-starting your morning with a walk in Cubbon Park, followed by filter kapi and dosa.
Off late, or whenever I feel like skimping off a few bucks or just want to indulge in some beautiful offerings that the city has to offer, I end up signing up for the Bangalore Heritage ride and walk,” begins poet, writer and storyteller Chandrama Deshmukh. Irrespective of whether you’re feeling frugal or not, take a walk around the city, She adds, “Sometimes roam the streets of Defence colony in Indira Nagar. The State Archaeological Museum in Cubbon Park is beautiful. And, is one place I love visiting, irrespective of what my bank account looks like.”
For frugal foodies, the city is haven too. Speaking of which, musician Hannah Mathews adds, “Places like Koramangala near JNC and Frazer town are dotted with momo huts and rolls joints that take you back by only 80-90 bucks at the most. This is what most college goers love to do! I also feel there are quite a lot of flea markets out there, which offers one with the scope to explore myriad styles. It’s also about experimenting a little. So, I don’t see how girls cannot have fun despite being broke. It’s important to get creative when you’re broke and explore the city by foot!,” chuckles Hannah.
Entrepreneur Sirish Narsepalli believes aside of netflixing and chilling, one can check out local places for sampling. “Sounds weird I know, but many restaurants are open to getting reviews from young articulate social media savvy people. In fact, being active on social media gives you so many perks that don’t cost a penny. I also think, switching to fitness is a great start that ensures oodles of energy and can be pursued with zero money. You can rent a cycle in less than ' 500 for a couple of hours and drive around the ulsoor lake! It’s a breathtaking experience.”
