Making digital waves
The World Digital Marketing Congress recently recognised Nisha Bengani Gandhi as one among the 100 Smartest Digital Marketing Leaders.
When everything in the world is available on digital platforms, experts in the digital platform rule the game. One such digital marketing expert from the city, Nisha Bengani Gandhi, has been recognised among the 100 Smartest Digital Marketing Leaders by none other than the World Digital Marketing Congress recently. Nisha is also the digital marketing head and the co-founder of Big Bears Advertising & Marketing, based in the city.
For the uninitiated, the World Digital Marketing Congress and Awards recognise exceptional work done by the marketing fraternity towards taking their brands into the digital era.
So also, what added to the charm of this award being bestowed upon Nisha was that she had not applied for the award. The team of World Digital Marketing Congress saw her works and shortlisted her. “When they called me to inform me, I was not sure if it was a genuine recognition or a paid award. But when I saw the award receivers, I was really happy as they included the best from the industry,” shares Nisha, who sees the event as a tribute to all those who believe in the power of the digital.
Discovering the ‘IT’ love
The entry into the world of digital marketing was a rather smooth one for Nisha. Her dad, like most Indian parents, wanted her to pursue engineering, but Nisha knew it in her gut that it was not her cup of tea.
“Instead of engineering, I took up a course in NIIT and did BCom. During this course, I learnt about social media and advertisements on the Internet, which help me satiate my intrigue about how advertisements popped up on different pages of Orkut, a social networking website that Google had initiated years ago,” says Nisha.
However, when Nisha had ventured into the world of digital marketing twelve years ago, the available platforms were only SMS and email. “Back then, even when working with IT giants, digital marketing was done by advertisement agencies and not by any expert specialised in the domain. Slowly, it began changing and now everything has changed so much and we deal with more creativity than before,” she says.
Making her splash
Soon, she co-founded Big Bears Advertising & Marketing in 2018, aiming to lead the digital transformation wave in advertising and marketing by connecting traditional ‘analogue’ businesses with the digital world and empowering them using digital marketing. She plans strategies for her clients.
She aims to turn her company into a 100-crore organisation by 2022, and presently, Nisha is working on a project for AMB Cinemas. “As Mahesh Babu is associated with the brand, we have to be extra careful while doing their campaign,” she says.
