Love adventure? Eturunagaram is place to be
Events including bird-watching, rock-climbing, trekking, cycling and marathons are going to be held in the Eturunagaram wildlife sanctuary.
Warangal: Jayashankar Bhupalapalli district administration is gearing up to conduct a series of events for nature lovers during this holiday season.
Events, including bird-watching, rock-climbing, trekking, cycling and marathons are going to be held in the Eturunagaram wildlife sanctuary. The district has already earned a name as an eco-tourism destination in the state.
The rock-climbing festival held last month at Pandavula Gutta was successful with 200 students from NIT Warangal and adventure club members from Hyderabad taking part. Warangal urban district collector Amrapali Kata also joined the event to encourage the participants.
Buoyed by the response, the district administration has decided to hold a series of events during the holiday season. An event calendar was prepared by the forest department from September 23 to January 28 next year.
“We have scheduled these events on weekends so that more enthusiasts from Warangal and Hyderabad would take part,” T. Ravi Kiran, district forest officer, said.
“Birdwatchers from across the country and abroad also visited Dayyalvagu, Dinneramerugu, Malluru Gutta, and Blackberry Island,” he added.
Mr Ravi Kiran said that they have decided that the route connecting Tadvai, Medaram, Urattam, Kondai, Malyala and back to Tadvai will be ideal for the cycling. It covers a distance of 45km.
