Die-hard royal fans may be in for a bit of a bummer. It looks like the new Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle will not be a godmother to William and Kate’s third-born Louis.

While eyes will mostly be on Markle on July 9, bookies are predicting it is not her who will be on the order of service for the youngster's christening.

On paper, it seems like Prince Harry and his new wife seem like the perfect choice for Louis' godparents.

After all, the loved-up newlyweds are the newborn's aunt and uncle.

However, since Harry isn't a godparent to either Prince George or Princess Charlotte, bookmakers are predicting that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will go in a different direction altogether

Chances are, the godparents won't even belong to the Royal Family.

Prince William and Kate Middleton are expected to follow their own tradition and choose close family friends and former Royal members of staff for the honour.

When Prince George was christened in October 2013, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge opted for a total of seven godparents, including their former private secretary Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton.

The Royal couple also chose to honour the late Princess Diana by choosing her eldest niece Laura Fellows as one Princess Charlotte's five godparents in July 2015.

Bookies are predicting that William and Harry's former nanny Tiggy Pettifer has the strongest odds of 2/1 for being selected as godmother.
