Secret santas bring joy!
Christmas is the perfect festival to give back generously to all those people who make life easy for you.
Spick and span living room, fixed sinks, cabs on call, clean roads, mobile phone at your doorstep, best morning chai and filter kaapi at your nukkad. These are done by people who we take for granted because it’s their job to make our day to day lives easier. Imagine your life in the absence of your domestic help, the cab driver, your electrician or that the delivery guy who brings your happiness home in the form of your favourite food or the book you ordered.
These are our Invisible Supermen and Wonder Women. If nothing more let's get together this Christmas and gift them the joy they deserve with a thank you. Let's give back to our cities by spreading smiles on the lips of these amazing people, let's become City Santas.
Amit Kumar Singh (26) who works with Convergent Communications shares his experience, “I registered to be a Secret Santa online and nominated the security guard in my building as I've been seeing him work day and night. It’s quite cold in the nights these days and giving him a blanket was such a fabulous idea. The smile on his face made me very happy too. Making others in need happy always gives you happiness. These guards are doing a thankless job without any rewards and very low salaries. When I handed over the blanket to him, he was delighted and filled me with joy as it was a great cause.”
Now anyone can become a Secret Santa in Bengaluru. How? It's easy— To become a City Santa, this is what you need to do: Fill a form and list yourself as a City Santa and receive a gift from Nestaway Startup that you pass on to your Invisible Superman or Wonder Woman today. Vijay Kabra (25) who works for Cricbuzz recalls his Secret Santa hat experience as he reveals, “I filled up my form and nominated two people who live near my PG. Both the girl and the guy are deaf and mute and although we only communicate through sign language there was a certain bonding that I shared with them. They're Kannadigas and I belong to Madhya Pradesh. They would always wave at me and I would give them chocolates everytime I passed by. As Santa, I gifted them blankets along with cakes and card. They were extremely excited to see the gift boxes and the joy on their faces was beyond comparison. We also took a selfie with them and since I live away from my family, they seemed like a part of my family. It's important to be good to people around you, beyond any boundaries of language, religion or social status. It's how your hearts are connected and what better time than Christmas to spread this message.”
The process was simple. They logged onto blog.nestaway.com, clicked a picture with their nominees (preferably a selfie) and posted it on Nesties with the hashtag #CitySanta. Divyanshu Kapoor (26) working with Continental
Automotives says, “I was accepted to become Secret Santa for underprivileged people and was given a blanket and Christmas cake to gift to an underprivileged person. I don't think there’s any other thing that's more fulfiling than this. I've just received a call after I filled the form online. Now I just need to collect the Secret Santa gift and give one of the underprivileged persons a very thoughtful gift.” Celebrate the joy of giving -— not just today, but every day of the year with your acts of kindness. Merry Christmas folks!
