Penning a techie's byte
An IT professional, actor and public speaker, Joseph Alappatt is now in the process of donning a novelist's hat, withThe First Chore.
Joseph Alappatt is an IT professional, an emerging actor and a public speaker. He has won a number of elocution championships and has acted in the movies Pop Corn and The Hidden Killer, the latter is yet to be released. Now, Joseph is all set to try his hand at a different scenario — writing. He is busy with the final preparations of his debut novel The First Chore, a fun-filled story of love, friendship and survival.
Sitting at a café, he says, “The book narrates the story of Devassy a.k.a. Dev, who was brought up in the belief that getting a good job is the aim of life. He is an engineer and the book describes his story of survival in the new environment.”
Joseph, who is working as the senior system analyst in UST Global, says that he has taken cues from his life for the story. “I have worked in cities like Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Kerala and have taken tips from all those experiences. The book also contains my observations about life,” he says.
According to him, the story is about the lead character’s transformation, how his perspective about life and career changes over the time. And, he believes that people will love it.
A person who likes trying different things in life, he recognised his flair for writing while writing speeches. “I was enjoying that process. I also maintain a blog, which has a few followers. They too opined that I could write. That was the motivation.” It took him two-and-a-half years to complete the novel.
Cinema is another beautiful thing that happened to Joseph. “I was cast in the lead role in The Hidden Killer. It has not come out yet.” The Police officer’s role in Pop Corn gave him a breakthrough. “It has been a different experience. The best part about acting is that you could enjoy emotions of different persons,” says Joseph, who is looking for new avenues.
