A houseful start to Panchajanyam fest

Panchajanyam International Film Festival

The 11th edition of the Panchajanyam International Film Festival has begun in Chittur, Palakkad, with hundreds of people thronging the venue on the first day itself. The opening film, Unmadiyude Maranam directed by Sanalkumar Sashidharan, was screened in front of a packed house at Kairali Theatre. After the screening, Women’s Republic, an open forum was also conducted.

Apart from feature films, a number of documentaries and campus films will be screened at the six-day festival in the coming days. More than 20 films will be screened in total.

The festival is organised by Panchajanyam, an organisation actively involved in the promotion of arts, sports, and culture in the region. It started functioning in 1982 in the village of Thekkegramam in Chittur as a small library, which is now affiliated to the Kerala State Library Council and is rated as an A-grade library. It has a reference library section, which is a first in Chittur.
