11-year-old jumps from mall window to escape fire that killed his family

Catastrophic accidents can take place at any location and give way to chaos where people are forced to find a way to save their lives. At times the situation goes out of hand and a person has to resort to desperate measures for survival.

In a shocking video from Russia, an 11-year-old was spotted throwing himself off a building in a bid to escape a fire that is thought to have killed the rest of his family. Sergey Moskalenko jumped from an open window of a shopping mall in Kemerovo where the inferno killed 64 people.

The fire broke out at a cinema in the four storey shopping centre as a dozen children have gone missing after the tragedy. Fire-fighters held out a rug in order to break the child’s fall but he had to be rushed to a hospital with injuries sustained when he hit a door on his way down.

Many reported how horrified people from windows of the building to save their lives.
