For some people a bike is just a means to an end, a machine that will take them from place A to place B – a piece of transport. But for others, it’s a mean, dream  machine, something they have hankered after for years. When they got hold of this rare opportunity to experience the awesome acceleration produced in drag racing first hand in the city, most youngsters lapped it up.

After all who wouldn’t mind getting their share of this adrenaline rush. With the bike rental company Wicked Ride you can now hire premium bikes like Harleys on weekends and odd days when you want to take a spin around the city or just a drop back home from any of the metro stations.

For Hudson Moses, an IT consultant it was just more of giving in to his passion of riding a different superbike everytime. “I first fell in love with bikes as a teenager and have always had the longing for that wind in your face and the freedom. For economic reasons, I decided to not buy a superbike and thanks to this service, I can now try a different bike every weekend. I’ve already tried every Harley they have – from entry level sportster to night rod the most expensive one and Triumphs for day trips in and around Karnataka. I’ve also gone for night rides to catch the early morning sunrise at Hogenakkal with a group of friends. Renting a bike also saves the hassle of servicing as it’s expensive to service these bikes.

I’ve seen this service in other countries and I’m happy that it is now in Bengaluru. After quick paper work, they gave me protective gear and wished me a happy ride,” shares Hudson, who confesses to have jumped off his seat when he first heard of this service.

It is also a boon for those looking for their last mile connectivity from the metro station. Download the app wickedride or log onto wickedride.com and book the bike for an hour or 14 hours, by providing a valid two wheeler driving license and an address proof. Anil G of Wicked Ride who manages the firm, co-founded by Vivekananda HR and Varun Agni says, “The idea is to make premium bikes available to common man and also to promote motorcycle tours. The rentals start from '62 for an hour for a Harley Davidson Street 720 to '262 for a Kawasaki Ninja for an hour.”

For those who’re not into superbikes, there’s also Honda Activa scooter up for rent for '20 per hour for 3 kms. Avin Yajaman, head of design at Freshmenu adds, “I’m into motorcycle tours and have already toured 12,000 km on these superbikes. I’m also happy that BMRCL has tied-up with this bike rental company to help commuters all types of two-wheelers on hire to reach their destinations near the stations at Indiranagar, Byappanahalli, Trinity Circle, Mantri Square and Peenya metro stations.” Happy riding, folks!
