Meghan Markle's family 'banned' from reality shows as it could embarass royal family
The Duchess of Sussex's family will not be allowed on I'm a Celebrity, Strictly, or Dancing on Ice after ITV and BBC bosses intervened.
It turns out that Reality TV shows have banned Meghan Markle’s relatives from appearing on them over fears that they would make anti-royal remarks.
The Duchess of Sussex’s family will not be allowed on I’m a Celebrity, Strictly, or Dancing on Ice after ITV and BBC bosses intervened, revealed a network source.
It followed news that her half-sister, Samantha, was tipped to appear on Celebrity Big Brother on Channel 5.
Outspoken Samantha dubbed Meghan 'princess pushy' while promoting her tell-all book.
A source with close links to ITV and BBC told Mirror Online that the broadcasters think it might be bad taste to cash-in on the Markles.
Speaking about it to MailOnline, the source added, “The Markles have not been shy about talking about their famous family member.”
The source further added, 'The BBC do not want to host someone on Strictly who would be so anti the Royal Family. And ITV’s top brass feel they would not give a voice to these people.”
Insiders have claimed that ITV controller Kevin Lygo was a key part of the decision. But it is understood it will not affect using the family for 'news purposes'.
