Google celebrates 18th birthday with special doodle
But not many know that the tech giant officially adopted September 27th as its birthday only in 2005.
Even though Google is celebrating its anniversary today, not many know that the tech giant officially adopted September 27th as its birthday only in 2005. The company admits that it had celebrated the day on September 7, 8, and 26 in the past.
The confusion arises from the fact that the month of September sees many big moments for Google like the setup of its first workspace and the hiring of its first employee.
The special birthday doodle, which shows Google’s “G” blowing up a balloon to spell out the rest of its name, has been designed by German artist Gerben Steenks. What’s even more interesting is that the first Google doodle actually came about before Google’s official birthday as the company posted its first doodle on August 30th in honour of the Burning Man festival.
