Designer claims Meghan Markle's wedding gown is 'identical' to one of her creations

A designer named Emilia Wickstead from New Zealand, recently made headlines after claiming that Meghan Markle’s wedding gown was "identical" to one of her own designs, the Daily Mail reported.

Wickstead is no stranger to the royal family as she is a  favourite of the Duchess of Cambridge.

Media report claim she alleged the Duchess of Sussex’s famous gown which cost close to £200,000 looked similar to a $12,000 gown from her own bridal collection. Clare Waight Keller of Givenchy designed Markle's dress for her big day.

Wickstead received a lot of heat on social media for her comments. One Twitter user wrote: "#EmiliaWickstead has a lot of nerve talking rudely about the #DuchessOfSussex’s wedding dress! Emilia actually works as a designer for the royal family! Highly unprofessional!"

Currently the designer's Twitter account has been suspended.

However, on Instagram, Wickstead released a statement over the matter:
