Woman removes her belly button to gift to her boyfriend
She now has regrets about it.
23-year-old Paulina Casillas Landeros has a fascination for body modification and is practically covered in tattoos.
Jalisco from Mexico already had a split tongue and body corset (piercings reated on either side of the spine and then laced with ribbons), before she decided to do something even more drastic.
A falling out with her family about her lifestyle caused an angry Pauliana to want to "dehumanise" herself in a "symbolic way", The Sun reported.
So she decided to have a procedure to remove her belly button, which she then gifted to her boyfriend as a token of her love.
However, the surgery did not got so well, as she claims the "professional gave me very bad advice on how to take care of the trauma so it got infected,” the report revealed.
"I was suffering, I spent days in bed as if I were quarantined. I couldn’t stretch, push, stand up or laugh," she further stated.
While her condition has gotten better, it has not completely healed.
It's been three years since, the surgery and spat and a lot has changed.
Landeros and her family managed to reconcile and even though she is no longer with her boyfriend, he kept the gift knowing what it means to her.
She said the experience taught is to "think things through" before acting on impulse.
She told The Sun: "I do regret it when I put myself in my mum’s position, it must have been devastating for her, she was so sad.
"If I could go back in time, I wouldn’t do it again, it was impulsive, reckless and I hurt a lot of people.
